Privacy Policy for Flightus

This Privacy Policy explains how the Flightus mobile app ("Flightus", "we", "us", or "the app") handles information. We built Flightus to respect your privacy. We do not require an account, we do not track you, and we do not sell your data. Please read this policy to understand our practices.

Information we collect

Flightus does not require you to create an account or sign in, and we do not ask for your name, email address, or phone number to use the app.

Flight information you enter. When you add a flight (such as a flight number, route, or date), this information is stored locally on your own device. It is not uploaded to or stored on any server owned by us.

Device location. Flightus does not request or use your device's GPS location. Map and weather information is based on the airports associated with the flights you enter, not on your physical location.

Anonymous analytics. Flightus does not use advertising or third-party tracking tools, and it never tracks you across other apps or websites. To understand how many people use Flightus and whether they return, the app creates a random, anonymous identifier that is stored on your device and sends a simple daily “active” signal to our server. This identifier is not linked to your name or any personal information, is never used to track you across other apps, and is never shared with advertisers. Reinstalling the app creates a new identifier.

Third-party services

To provide its features, the app sends requests to a number of third-party services, including AeroDataBox and AviationStack (flight data), Unsplash (destination photos), Open-Meteo (weather), and Expo (push-notification delivery), and it can open the Apple App Store. When the app contacts these services over the internet, those providers may automatically receive standard technical information that is part of any internet request, such as your device's IP address. We do not control how these third parties handle that information, and we encourage you to review their respective privacy policies.

Flightus does not share the flights you enter with these services beyond what is needed to fetch the requested information (for example, an airport or city name).

How your information is stored

The flights and preferences you save are kept only on your device using your device's local storage. If you delete the app, this locally stored information is removed along with it.

Notifications

Flightus can send two kinds of notifications. On-device reminders (for example, about an upcoming flight) are generated on your device. Flight alerts — only if you turn them on — require registering a device push token and the flights you choose to track with our server, so we can notify you of delays, gate changes, and cancellations. This information is not linked to your name or any personal information, is never used to track you or shared with advertisers, and turning alerts off in the app removes your registration.

Children's privacy

Flightus is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes are posted means you accept the updated policy.
